Leh, Ladakh
The name Ladakh means "land of high passes" in Tibetan/Ladakhi; it connected India with the Silk Road. A Union Territory comprising of two districts namely Leh and Kargil and bordered by Tibet. It is renowned for its remote mountain beauty and distinct culture. It is also the highest plateau in India with much of it being over 3,000 m (9,800 ft). With major attraction of Nubra which is the highest motor-able road Khardongla pass (18,380ft.) majestic peaks and glaciers enchanting valleys and villages. Along with, Pangong Lake, situated at a height of almost 4,350m, is the world’s highest saltwater lake. Its water, which seems to be dyed in blue, stand in stark contrast to the arid mountains surrounding it. Extending to almost 160km, one-third of the Pangong Lake lies in India and the other two-thirds in China. Pangong Lake, one of the most famous lakes in Leh Ladakh, derives its name from the Tibetan word, “Pangong Tso”, which means “high grassland lake”. It sure is a photographer's dreamland for a perfect getaway and to capture some amazing shots.
